Ayak Oyunu
Ayak oyunu (Foot Play) is a collage created with stills taken from the movie Bu Balık Başka Balık (A Fish Like No Other). Based on the artist’s research and discovery, this is the first turkish movie in record depicting a male homoerotic scene.
The movie tells the story of the Kastellis, a rich foreign couple that travel to Turkey for hunting down a young girl’s inheritance. Although the plot focuses mainly on Mrs. Kastelli’s sexcapades with various Turkish men, the mister does not disappoint the audience and starts a homosexual affair with his Turkish body guard, Hüseyin. Ayak Oyunu depicts the scene where Mr. Kastelli teases Hüseyin by caressing his chest and groin with his foot.
While homosexual scenes between female actresses were fairly common in Turkish Erotic cinema, this is the only known instance where a male homosexual relationship has been shown on the silver screen. This unique moment in Yeşilçam history is curiously left out by all relevant literature to date.
These images were intended to be produced on our signature medium of silk. They however shocked our manufacturer and our production was unexpectedly halted. Determined to exhibit these works in Turkey, we have opted last minute to print them on fine art paper. We did however manage to get their pixelated censored version printed by the very same manufacturer on our signature silk. You may unveil the censored silk and reveal the uncensored image below.
